Since joining CDN in 2004, Philip has worked with a variety of public and private sector clients exposing him to a wide range of planning fields.  Philip has prepared planning applications on behalf of individuals, small-scale housebuilders, SMEs and larger businesses, including proposals for single dwellings, multiple dwelling developments, retail developments, barn conversions, and leisure developments.

Philip has helped prepare a number of regeneration strategies and development frameworks for major residential and mixed-use developments, including an Area Action Plan for Weston-super-Mare (North Somerset) and a Supplement Planning Guidance document outlining a framework for the regeneration and redevelopment of Porthcawl waterfront for up to 1100 new homes, along with new commercial and leisure uses.

Philip has also recently assisted Monmouthshire County Council in the preparation of Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans for 18 conservation areas in rural and urban settings.

Philip has had a major role acting as project manager and principal consultant in putting together a number of studies to address the housing needs of the Gypsy and Traveller community.  Through involvement in these projects and working closely with Local Government officers, Philip has developed a three-tier criteria based approach to site identification that takes into account a number of social, economic and environmental factors in assessing the suitability and sustainability of site options.  Clients include Derby City Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council, Torfaen County Borough Council, Vale Royal Borough Council, and Wiltshire County Council.
