Local Buildings of Importance

In March 2014 CDN Planning were commissioned by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council to compile a list of potential Local Buildings of Importance. This relates to the Council’s ongoing Local Development Plan process and is the first stage of evidence gathering as the Council intend to prepare Supplementary Planning Guidance on the topic in due course.

Local Buildings of Importance are those not already afforded protection by statutory designations (e.g. Listed Buildings or buildings within Conservation Areas), but which may be desirable to preserve due to their local architectural or historic interest. The exercise involved initial discussions with stakeholders, followed by extensive site survey work. More than 150 such buildings have been identified, including chapels, unusual dwellings and industrial buildings.
