CDN Planning have been working on behalf of Sunance Ltd and Sybac Solar International AG to help these two developers establish themselves in the UK solar farm market. Various sites across south Wales have thus far been identified by CDN as being potentially viable for commercial-scale solar farms; the first of these is located near Treoes in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Matthew Hard of CDN is acting as lead consultant on the project. A planning application is currently being prepared, accompanied by supporting technical reports covering landscape and visual impact, transport and construction management, archaeology and heritage, ecology, flood risk and agricultural land classification. There has also been consultation with the local community, including a public meeting at Treoes Village Hall on 9th October.
The proposal has evolved from an initial plan of a 12MW solar farm to the current proposal for a 2.2MW scheme; the changes have arisen due to local grid capacity. The planning application is expected to be submitted before the end of October.
