As well as being chartered town planners (i.e. Members of the Royal Town Planning Institute) CDN Planning are also capable urban designers. Our consultants include a qualified urban designer who sits on the Design Review Panel at the Design Commission for Wales.
At the broadest level, CDN can help with master planning exercises and regeneration and renewal strategies. We have prepared and delivered a variety of Development Frameworks for towns, villages, urban extensions and major developments.
In the preparation of planning applications or at the start of a strategic project we may need to undertake character appraisals or feasibility studies to help determine the best design solution for a site.
Most planning applications are accompanied by Design and Access Statements, which explain and justify the design chosen for the particular project.
Large development projects that take several years to develop may also need public realm strategies or the creation of design guides or design codes to influence the detailed design of future proposals.
Our experience and understanding of urban design, townscape and landscape means that we are able to provide Project Management / Co-ordination services and also act in design brokerage and negotiation between different parties (such as developers, architects, local councils and interested stakeholders).
CDN also have a lengthy track record of dealing with heritage assets, including Conservation Area Appraisals and applications for Listed Building Consent.
